The Raskob Foundation accepts applications
from official Catholic, tax-exempt, non-profit
organizations. Per the Foundation’s Charter, requests by or
for individuals cannot be honored.
Within the United States, Catholic
organizations are recognized by the IRS as those listed in the
most recent edition of the
Official Catholic Directory, published annually by P.J.
Kenedy & Sons. For tax-exempt, charitable organizations not
listed in the Kenedy Directory, the Foundation can accept an
application for consideration only if it is submitted by an
official Catholic organization that is financially supporting
the project for which funds are being sought. If a grant were
then approved by our Board of Trustees, payment would be made to
the Catholic organization, which in turn could assign the funds
to the project that it is already financially supporting.
Outside the United States, the Raskob Foundation accepts
applications
only from Catholic dioceses, Catholic parishes,
Catholic schools, Catholic hospitals and Catholic religious
congregations.
IMPORTANT!
The Foundation does
not accept
applications for the following purposes:
| 1. |
Reduction of
Debt |
| 2. |
Tuition,
Scholarships or Fellowships |
| 3. |
Endowment Funds |
| 4. |
Individual
Scholarly Research |
| 5. |
Continuing
Subsidies |
| 6. |
Advocacy,
Lobbying or Legislation |
| 7. |
Projects which
are "after-the-fact" (completed) by the date of the
Trustees' Meetings |
| 8. |
Grants made by
other grantmakers |
Other Restrictions:
- Applications for Construction
Projects:
In general, requests to fund large construction projects
have a low priority with the Raskob Foundation.
Building or Renovation Projects
costing over $200,000 are not accepted for
consideration until:
- 50% of the total cost is in hand.
(Monies pledged but not actually received or
contractually committed, do not satisfy this
requirement.)
- A signed construction contract is in existence.
- Construction is actually underway.
- Unfortunately, the Foundation does not have the facility
to translate application materials submitted in languages
other than English. In many cases, these requests have to be
returned to the applicants. To facilitate the processing of
your application for review by the Board, it is
advisable that the application materials be submitted in
English.
- At the present time, the Raskob Foundation does not
accept e-mailed appications. It should also be noted
that since the application form itself is copied and sent
out to our Members for review, faxed submissions are not
encouraged, as they are often not clear enough for
reproduction.
- While there is no limit as to the number of times an
applicant may approach the Foundation for funding, in
general, the Raskob Foundation does not make grants for
the same project or to the same organization on a continuing
or regular basis.
- If the Foundation is unable to allocate funds for a
program/project/need, the Board will not accept the same
application for review at the next (successive) Meeting.
Qualified organizations must request a new
Application Package each time they wish to submit an
application for consideration. Each application is assigned a
unique tracking number for correspondence and reporting
purposes.
|
You may obtain an Application Package in one of
the following ways:
-
Submit a written request to the
Foundation, on the stationery of the Catholic
